Babycakes - SanDiego Eats

San Diego is filled with about 1 billion and 17 thousand places for you to get your "NOM' on. This is just one of them.

BABYCAKES

As I was driving to get here...not sure if this was to keep me away - I saw a traffic break being run on the freeway leading to Babycakes. The whole freeway was shut down and I was in the thick of it...GPS guided me to my destination via some back roads...thank you GPS.

I found some street parking, gave the city 50 cents for the meter and was on my way! This place is very cute and colorful as you can see. It was a Thursday around noon and not too many people around.

Once you walk inside the place is split into two parts, one side a bar (but it was only noon and not opened just yet)You better bet your bottom dollar I will visit at night to sip wine and eat cupcakes. The other side is for the cupcakes. What cute decor!

Peek-A-Boo - Peek-A-Boo -

Alright back to business, here is the lovely case of treats at Babycakes. No line, quick service, and the workers asked questions about my visit to their shop. They seemed genuinely interested on if I was a "first timer".

There are many flavors - I specifically had :

PB & J - Great icing, light with PB flavor but the chocolate cake was a bit dry.

Strawberry Shortcake - Super light fluffy whipped topping and moist delightful vanilla bottom.

Pistachio - Hands down the best of my choices - top notch flavor and just
delightful frosting and cake.

Blood Orange - TO DIE FOR - NUFF SAID

The rest of these bad boys were donated to happy co-workers...at this moment while typing I am experiencing a heavy sugar relapse. YIKES, ha.

Overall thoughts were this is a super cute spot with pretty good cupcakes, nothing made me faint with delight but maybe just a slight weakness of the knees for overall experience.

Drop by for coffee, wine, & cupcakes - have you eaten there? What was your experience?
